Hemendra Mathur is the Managing Director for SEAF India Investment Advisors, managing a sector-dedicated fund for food and agribusiness small and medium enterprises in India. Hemendra has been working in management consulting, investment banking and private equity since 1996. He has a proven track record providing strategic investment advice to mid-sized Indian companies, international enterprises and government and multilateral organizations. His in-depth knowledge and experience includes consumer behavior, consumer products’ supply chain and policy, the retail environment, and agribusiness. Hemendra has strong relationships with entrepreneurs, government officials, policymakers, and in academia in sectors pertaining to food, agribusiness and retail. He has extensive work experience in India, Europe, and South Asia.
Prior to working for SEAF, Hemendra worked with Yes Bank, Rabo India Finance (a 100 percent subsidiary of Rabobank International), Kirt Salmon Associates (KSA) Technopak, and ORG-MARG (now part of The Nielsen Company). Hemendra has played an important role in catalyzing reforms in the agriculture and food-processing sectors in India. In this capacity, Hemendra has participated in various government-appointed committees, has authored articles in leading business dailies in India, and has been invited to address various conferences on these sectors and their reform. In addition, Hemendra developed innovative business models for market mapping, consumer behavior tracking, retail roll-out, rural business hubs and sourcing that are widely used by industry leaders.
Hemendra has studied management at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India and holds a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from Rajasthan Agricultural University, India.
