Gavin Bell is the General Manager at Kuku Foods in Kenya, a franchise holder of KFC in East Africa. Gavin is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative (2001) – a 4 year educational initiative under the Henry Crown Fellowship program, set up and run by the Aspen Institute of Colorado, USA to develop young entrepreneurs in Africa chosen for their contribution to business development in their countries. Gavin is a contributor to the Business Daily – a mainstream, business newspaper, plus several hospitality journals, as well as a regular media consultant on franchising, entrepreneurship and hospitality issues. Gavin is a lecturer for Strathmore Business School in addition to the UNDP YES-MSE Program on Entrepreneurship and Franchising; as well as at Kenya Utalii College on Strategic Management (specialising in franchising and competitive analysis in the hospitality industry.
Gavin is also Director of Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers & Caterers (KAHC); Founding-Chairman of Restaurant Division of KAHC; Founding-Chairman of Kenya Franchise Association; Committee member of Kenya Chapter of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs; Board member of NightGuard, Uganda – a Malaria-eradication program through franchised IRS centres; Board consultant to CFW Shops – a multi-unit franchise operation providing healthcare and medicine to outreach areas; member of Kenya Wine & Food Society and member of Kenya Private Sector Foundation and a resource person for the Joint Africa Institute (AfDB/ IMF/ World Bank) on Franchising in Africa.
Gavin has received his Hotel, Catering & Institutional Management; Hospitality Administration/ Management from University of West London.
